HPD has only updated a few months so I am not able to obtain the other data from the year. But if you compare three months of the area beat data that Briargrove is in, to the neighborhood data we are still doing very well. We did have a rough month of June but we ran extra officers and it appeared to help, because July was very quiet. Remember to be aware of your surroundings at all times and call Briargrove Patrol on any suspicious activity. 713-822-0600. Enjoy the last few weeks of summer and let’s hope August is as quiet as July.

Quarterly Security Report (Q1 2015)

The first 3 months of this year we have had 2 residential burglaries. Both burglaries have occurred at residents that do not have alarms. Compared to the beat we are still doing very well, 18F30’s beat usually has around 20 burglaries a month. If you do not have a residential alarm I would recommend looking into getting an alarm. Remember to request motion sensors in living room and master bedroom or some type of glass breakage sensors.

We have also had a few issues with tailgate thieves again. I have sent out a yahoo email concerning a master lock that has been developed to help prevent this type of activity, or use the cheaper hose clamp. If you own a truck I recommend taking either one of these actions to give you a little piece of mind if you forget to lock the tailgate.

Another issue that I need to address is the securing of toys in the front yard. I worked the neighborhood Sunday morning. I made my first round around 0630 hrs. I counted at least 5 or 6 bikes, tricycles and skate boards on sidewalks in front of homes. Unfortunately this is too tempting to some individuals and it doesn’t take but a second for them to grab the toy and drive off. Please try to check the front yard or remind the kids to pull their toys up towards the front porch or put them in the garage.

We have attached a map of the beat to show how much of the beat is taken up by our neighborhood. Also attached is statistics to compare the activity in Briargrove to the 18F30 beat.

Thanks
